Let's get baking ! Biltong Scones

Biltong + Mozzarella Scones !

 

If you love scones , you will love this! Savoury scones in under 40 min!


You will need:

4 cups of flour ( self raising)

Pinch of salt & pepper

120g of butter

150g biltong ( we used peppered steak - traditional biltong) You can get yours here

200g grated mozzarella

2 eggs

150ml milk


Method:

Preheat the oven to 180°C fan-forced (200°C conventional) lay  baking sheet down.

Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the salt and the pepper , rub the butter in with your fingertips until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the biltong and the cheese.

Mix the eggs with milk and pour it onto the dry mixture. Combine everything together.

Then take the pastry cutter and tap it sharply so that it goes straight through the dough – do not twist or the scones will turn out a strange shape! When you have cut as many as you can, knead the remaining dough together again and repeat. Then place the scones on the baking sheet, dust each one with flour and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden.

Serve them with butter or as we did with avocado - let your imagination flow!
