So here we are in September, you may be thinking there is nothing left to look forward to except Christmas but think again! National Braai Day is fast approaching on the 24th of September. Those summer ways aren’t over yet!
Officially, National Braai Day is a public holiday in South Africa otherwise known as National Heritage Day. This is a day where South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their beliefs, traditions and cultures as a nation but also remember the cultural heritage of those who populate the country otherwise know as the “rainbow nation”.
Jan Braai is the man behind the National Braai Day initiative aka Braai4Heritage! He sort about “rebranding” National Heritage Day because he believes that all South Africans share one common thing that will never change - holding casual backyard braais, lighting fires and organizing fantastic feasts.
So whatever you are doing this September 24th, grab some Boerewors, light up a fire and braai! The Chichester Biltong Company Boerewors is only £10.00 online for 500g! Absolutely delicious!
Here in the UK there are some great events celebrating National Braai Day. If you’re into the Rugby then head down to Saracens as they take on Bath on the 22nd of September at Allianz Park for their “BBQ before Bath Time” event!
